LPJ Chicago Fall 2010

LPJ Chicago recruits rowers from grades 8 – 12 from schools all over the Chicago area. Rowers of all experience levels are encouraged to join our team. The LPJ Chicago staff are professional coaches and former collegiate athletes, including national champions and former national team members. Training takes place in four and eight person racing shells on the Chicago River, as well as land based training on ergometers (rowing machines).

Training times

• Monday – Friday: 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 7:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Location

The Frances K. Mennone and Bruce H. Smith floating boathouse in the “back” (quiet) channel of the Chicago River at North Avenue and Kingsbury St. (enter from the Old Navy parking lot, but don’t park in that lot!). Street parking is available.

Cost

The cost for Fall season varies by squad.  Varsity members pay more due to participation in additional out of town regattas.  Please note that costs are not pro-ratable once the season has begun.
Varsity Dues: $950  
Novice Dues: $850

What to bring

Typical athletic gear is all that is required, as long as it is not too baggy. (Baggy clothing will catch in the movable seats of both racing shells and rowing machines.) Please wear gym shoes, not sandals. Bring plenty of water.

Safety information

We are serious about safety and strictly adhere to the safety regulations established by our sport’s governing body, the USRowing Association. We row rain or shine as long as there is no danger of lightning. If storms do occur we will move indoors for continued training on rowing machines.
